Presidents Message

I am delighted as President of Oughterard Rugby Football Club (ORFC) to welcome you to our website. The purpose of the site is to give you a brief snapshot into the activities of our club and the direction in which our club is moving.

ORFC is a relatively young club with a high level of ambition, best expressed in our vision:

‘‘ To become one of the leading clubs in Connacht with a full range of underage, junior, masters and ladies teams.’’

At this point in time we have a vibrant and growing set of underage teams, ranging from U7s up to and including U14s and a girls LEP section. Since 2011 a Junior team has been established, competing the Connacht J2 league. Although being such a young and relatively inexperienced squad, the juniors play a fantastic style of fast rugby which has led to them playing in the Ard na Cregg cup final in only their second season of competing.

For the ever willing veterans, there are a number of social matches played against likeminded “oldies” from home and abroad.

Concurrently we are continuing to work closely with St Paul’s Secondary school, Oughterard, in developing a schools underage team. I believe that this exciting development will ensure a bright future for our club and the wider community.

We are looking forward to building on the successes of previous seasons. Some of our objectives for the near future are to further develop our facilities to include a club house and training pitches.

May I take this opportunity to wish all of our coaches, managers, staff, volunteers, players and visiting clubs,  all the very best for the season and to sincerely thank them for all of their efforts to date in furthering our club. Last, but not least, a special word of gratitude to all parents for your continuing support.
